Hi everybody! I hope that everyone is having an excellent week so far. I have no complaints, and sometimes that’s good enough. π
I’m in the middle of Week 2 of my 16 week training plan for the Runner’s World Festival Grand Slam. While training for that, I’m also trying to get fast again. The summer is a real kick in the butt at times, but I’m getting closer with every tough run. I know we can get caught up in pacing, so here’s a cool calculator that can “convert” your goal pace into a temperature/dew point corrected pace!

So far this week, I traded in a track workout for a tough 3 mile tempo on Monday, then had a nice easy 5 (and some change) with the Boonsbux crew (it’s the Boonsboro Starbucks, but somebody gave it a catchy name). Wednesday is no longer a running day, but I crushed a workout. Thursday was ANOTHER 3 mile tempo that I’m pretty happy with.

Tomorrow will be another rest day (yippee!) then I’ll put in a 10 miler. I get a threasy on Sunday and that’ll be the end of Week 2!
Earlier this week, I was whining on Twitter about the fact that I’ve been 40 for almost a year and STILL haven’t won a Master’s Division race yet. I guess maybe my injury set me back a little, but that still bothers me. I got a pep talk from a pretty good source though…

Olympian Kara Goucher told me to keep at it! I guess I better keep at it then!
If that doesn’t give me some motivation, I don’t know what will. I plan to win a Master’s, take a picture and show it to Kara for approval, like my kids with their report cards. π
Plan A: Work my butt off. Get faster.
Plan B: Find small enough race. π
Plan C: Hire someone to run the race for you. π See if Kara Goucher is free.
