Happy Friday! I spent this morning putting in a few miles on the treadmill and then lifting some things. One mile was on the manual treadmill. Those things are TOUGH. The next two miles were on a "regular" treadmill and by comparison, I felt like I was running on air. I ran a 6:40 last half mile like it was nothing. That's fun. 🙂 Well, I started writing this last Friday, but here we are. Let's see....Where was I? Oh yes! I was about to get into the fact that warmer runs are upon us and suddenly hydration is back to being pretty important. There are SO many options out there, and now I've tried another one and have plenty to say about it.
In today's news: Summer is nasty. We all know it. It always is.
Here in Virginia, I can choose between minimizing the temperature and sun exposure by running at 5:30am but with 99.99% humidity, or I can wait for the humidity to drop while hitting 95 degrees with a burning hot sun (oh, and it's still humid too). Pick your poison.
I'm what you'd call an efficient sweater. My work juices start flowing sometimes before I even START my run. After a few miles, I'm just about soaked. I sometimes like to run long distances, so hydration is KEY. That goes for before, during and after running. When BibRave gave me the opportunity to test out a hydration related product, I jumped right on it!
Hello friends and runners (and runner friends)! It's the middle of the summer and we're all doing our best to survive it. I know plenty of us are ramping up in our training to get ready for whatever lies ahead. As we know, we have to work through the summer to kick butt in the fall. 🙂
Energy and hydration are always a part of what we need to worry about as endurance athletes, but never more than in the summertime. I've tried many products over the years for running fuel, but I'm always happy to find out what the options are. Gels are a common method of replenishing lost calories and electrolytes among runners, cyclists and other activities. BibRave introduced me to Science in Sport (SiS) and I've been trying them out over the last few weeks!
