Confession time: I've been training for WEEKS for a marathon and I've hardly even blogged about it. I used to blog weekly and then maybe every other week or so. Next thing you know, it was monthly and then it was whenever I happened to feel like it. I'm not gonna DNF this blog though. This time around, I'm here to talk about some new products that I've been able to test out during this marathon training cycle. First, let me introduce you to MANTRA Labs...
Happy Friday! I spent this morning putting in a few miles on the treadmill and then lifting some things. One mile was on the manual treadmill. Those things are TOUGH. The next two miles were on a "regular" treadmill and by comparison, I felt like I was running on air. I ran a 6:40 last half mile like it was nothing. That's fun. 🙂 Well, I started writing this last Friday, but here we are. Let's see....Where was I? Oh yes! I was about to get into the fact that warmer runs are upon us and suddenly hydration is back to being pretty important. There are SO many options out there, and now I've tried another one and have plenty to say about it.
Greetings and salutations! I'm coming to you live from snowy Virginia (we FINALLY got a real snow day!). I just finished up a 50 mile week (woo hoo!) in preparation for the Blue Ridge Marathon and I'm only a little sore and tired. I'll take that as a win. In this cold weather, we often think about the fact that running will be much different than during the swampy times of summer. It's definitely different to some extent. Dressing ourselves becomes quite challenging. One layer too many and we're heading to sweat city. One body part not covered enough and the run becomes miserable. Some things aren't really different at all, though we think it is. Somehow, hydration becomes less of a priority at times. WRONG.
In today's news: Summer is nasty. We all know it. It always is.
Here in Virginia, I can choose between minimizing the temperature and sun exposure by running at 5:30am but with 99.99% humidity, or I can wait for the humidity to drop while hitting 95 degrees with a burning hot sun (oh, and it's still humid too). Pick your poison.
I'm what you'd call an efficient sweater. My work juices start flowing sometimes before I even START my run. After a few miles, I'm just about soaked. I sometimes like to run long distances, so hydration is KEY. That goes for before, during and after running. When BibRave gave me the opportunity to test out a hydration related product, I jumped right on it!
Hello and happy Tempo Thursday to you, my friends. I'm in the middle of another summer-ish week of running that has had its good days and its bad ones, but they'll be more about that later. Today I'm focusing on a product review, because trying things is awesome.
Nuun Rest is a Nutrient-Rich, Relaxation & Recovery drink tablet (you get 10 per tube). It's enhanced with magnesium, tart cherry extract and potassium, which promote a more restful night of sleep. Mix with 4-6 oz. of hot or cold water and enjoy. I personally think it's meant to be hot.
Hey hey hey! Seems like it's been a while since I chimed in with anything. I still need to recap last week's marathon training (or what's left of it), but first it's time for a product review!
