When I received my ThermoNet™ Multifunctional Headwear and matching ThermoNet™ hat, I was pretty excited to try them out. Unfortunately, the weather didn’t want to cooperate. We were still facing summer-like mornings in Virginia, so I had to patiently wait.

When it was finally cool enough to wear the hat on a morning run, I jumped right on it. To be honest, it was still a little warm outside but I figured that could be something that I test out as a product tester. How warm is too warm?

This is what http://buffusa.com/ has to say about ThermoNet™:

“When weather conditions require high-thermal insulation, the new ThermoNet™ multifunctional headwear provides maximum protection from the cold. This comfortable, thin multifunctional headwear is made with breathable, durable PrimaLoft® yarn that is four times warmer than regular microfiber. The result of years of research and testing, ThermoNet™ multifunctional headwear wicks moisture away from your skin while trapping heat inside, keeping you comfortable and dry in even the most frigid winter weather.”

So clearly this stuff is made to handle the coldest of days, but I care a lot about the breathable part because I’m a “hot head”. It definitely passed the breathability test, since I kept the hat on for my entire run and never got uncomfortably toasty. I broke a sweat (I ALWAYS break a sweat), but that I can handle.

I gave my wife the first shot at trying out the BUFF® Multifunctional Headwear when she headed out for a cold weather soccer game. Her reviews were very positive. She agreed with me on the breathability and liked that she was kept “warm but not TOO warm”.

I’ve taken the liberty of providing ALL of the many ways that a BUFF® can be worn. I know, I know, some of these look complicated! Luckily, there’s a video tutorial for that. 🙂

I got a chance to test my BUFF® stuff out in some really cold weather as well. Pre-race, I used my BUFF® in Balaclava mode, then switched it up to Do Rag. Late in the race, I switched to Neckerchief. I really like that you can change how you wear it as the weather (or your body heat) progresses.

Conclusion

I really enjoyed using my BUFF® ThermoNet™ Multifunctional Headwear and matching hat. They are versatile and comfortable. I’ve been carrying the hat around everywhere I go and wearing it a ton, even when I’m not running. They are great cold weather products and will likely be regulars in my running ensembles (and my non-running ensembles too).
